Week Eight| Journal & Completed/Ongoing Assignments

Week 8 was a bit hectic… I started putting together a few rough ideas for Dawn and Ashlyn to review. The design below will determine the feel of the thank you card and packaging label. We will be discussing these ideas in tomorrows meeting. The first row of design intent was to capture a coffee house feel. Perfect for a mini candy jar filled with chocolate covered espresso beans! Thanks AJ for the idea. Those beans were the only thing keeping us up in London! The second row of design is a bit conservative and meant to feel like a sunrise/Dawn, no pun intended, just a classic look. The white areas will print gold on the label paper creating a glowing effect. The last row is a bit more playful. It is not something that Dawn usually looks for in design work, however, I threw it in there to see if she likes any of the elements to incorporate.  I also had to budget all the materials and come up with a price per package… I HAVE NEVER FELT MORE LIKE MY FATHER IN MY WHOLE LIFE. The breakdown of putting together a project like this is quite eye opening. Without the flash drive, each package will cost roughly five dollars to make. This doesn’t sound like a lot, but if you multiply five dollars by the 32 she will need for the year…it can become quite pricey. Still I have researched products and utilized every cost cutting alternative. Not too shabby. I also managed to squeeze a small blog in this week. I’d say this week has been pretty successful.
